tangents ‘25 | February
What better way to understand people than through their customs, traditions and stories. The month of February is dedicated to the topic of ‘FOLKLORE’.
DBRDS took time to indulge in the folklore of different cultures through dance, legends, traditions and architecture:
Japanese culture & architecture is rich and deep-rooted in Japanese traditions of being, we learned by watching Shogo walk us through Traditional Kyoto Style Machiya with Zen Gardens.
We learned the story of the Palestinian Dabke, it’s heritage and link to identity, land and resistance from a Gazan band.
We shared personal folklore that influenced our own upbringing, from the Puerto Rico’s Origin of the Taino People, Tijuana’s famous Woman Who Danced With the Devil and Croatian Superstitions - which some seemed more universal than others. Which explains a lot about the office…
We visited American Folk Architecture with the words of Christopher Alexander’s The Timeless Way of Building.
