Get to know : Andrea Vazquez

Andrea is a lifelong bi-national San Diegan-Tijuanense. Her childhood and upbringing lived between both cities, experiencing the development, relationships and uniqueness of border cities. She spent most days cartooning and sketching away the hours to the tune of her favorite 90’s grunge and alternative rock influences including the Beatles, Radiohead, Nirvana & Queen. Architecture became a path to a profession that allowed her to maintain creative expression. Working in what you love was the goal.

After graduating from NewSchool of Architecture & Design, her drive to learn gave her the opportunity to be exposed to diverse typologies in architecture. Her experience included master planning, commercial, hospitality, and single family renovations. In 2021, Andrea joined DBRDS looking for a small firm environment with new challenges & design forward values. As a project manager, she has picked up yet another market: multi-family mixed use projects, managing projects of this scale for the first time on her own.

When she’s not obsessed with hanging out with us, Andrea spends time with her friends, family and pets. How many pets you ask? Only three dogs and a cat. But that is not enough. The animal lover is committed to feeding the regular strays in the neighborhood. She’s still jamming to her 90’s grunge and indie rock (although she’s expanded her taste since), she makes it out to countless shows a year. Beyond the shows, her travels take her to different countries around the world backpacking in Europe and exploring the diversity of Central and South America. Locally you can find the die-hard Padres fan at the arcades, theme parks, movies, and getting into the latest foodie scene.
