March is our first ‘YOU’ tangent topic. The ‘YOU’ makes it personal. Your influence, your inspirations, your obsessions and sparks. Here at DBRDS, one thing we all agree on: music is personal. This month’s theme is ‘YOU: MUSIC’
We had the team present their personal relationship with music, what inspired them, what stamped their childhood or upbringing.
Ivan kicked it off with a deep dive into the bands that have inspired his design approach over the years. AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest. He mixed in some some of his Australian favorites as well with Rose Tattoo and The Angels before introducing us to Midnight Oil, who shut down NYC momentarily in 1990 to protest the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
Tommy led us through his musical history featuring influences from Bad Bunny, John Williams, Korn, Hans Zimmer and Lady Gaga.
Pauly introduced the team to an Australian Christmas classic, How to Make Gravy, by the legendary Paul Kelly.
There is one thing we collectively reminisced on thanks to Andrea: music videos. R.I.P. to the glory days of MTV:
