Union & B, San Diego

Expressing the Archi-structural DNA

Drawing inspiration from major international buildings from Sydney, London, Chicago & Mexico City, the UNION + B mixed-use high-rise tower concept is a dynamic new architectural expression for the San Diego skyline. A building for an evolving modern city, this iconic tower pioneers the vertical village concept in San Diego delivering a flexible floor plate designed to evolve for future generations of habitants both residential & commercial. The structural design of the building, by exposing the diagonal cross-bracing as an exterior artistic element, is celebrating the iconic modernist lines that connect each level from street to rooftop. The design expresses the very genes that symbolize the functionality of structure, allowing for flexibility in planning, like the strands of DNA. The integration of an automated parking solution maximizes the potential for parking on an intimate urban in-fil site, without compromise to the lateral systems required for a building of this scale.
